State-of-the-Art Equine Sports Centre

Vision for the Equine Sports Centre

The equine community plays a vital role in our region’s culture, economy, and heritage. Recognising this, I am committed to developing a state-of-the-art equine sports centre in Wagga Wagga. Our city is perfectly positioned geographically, midway between Sydney and Melbourne, to become a major player in the equestrian sports industry. This facility will serve as a hub for equestrian activities, boost local tourism, and provide significant economic benefits to our community.

This concept is nothing new however with a similar proposal brought to a previous council and was however poorly handled and a major opportunity was missed for this city. I believe we have matured as a city and the new incoming councillors have a huge opportunity to press the reset button and do this right this time in the interests of this community. If I am reelected I am very keen on working collaboratively with my colleagues to get this project on course.

Economic and Community Benefits

The construction and operation of the equine sports centre will create jobs, stimulate local businesses, and  increase tourism. Hosting major equestrian events will draw visitors to our region, providing a significant  boost to hotels, restaurants, and other local enterprises. Additionally, this facility will offer local riders and  enthusiasts a professional environment to train and compete, fostering the growth of equestrian sports within  our community.

Utilising Existing Resources

The land needed for this project is already available at the Equex Centre, making it an ideal location for the  development of the equine sports centre. By utilising this existing resource, we can expedite the construction  process and reduce costs, ensuring that the project is both financially viable and beneficial to the community.

Promoting Local Equestrian Culture

The equine sports centre will celebrate and promote our region’s rich equestrian culture. It will include  educational programs, clinics, and workshops designed to support the development of riders at all levels. By  providing a space where riders, trainers, and spectators can come together, the centre will strengthen our  equestrian community and inspire future generations.

Collaboration and Funding

The success of this project will rely on collaboration between local government, the equestrian community, and private investors. I am committed to forging partnerships and securing the necessary funding to bring this vision to life. This includes exploring grants, sponsorships, and public-private partnerships to ensure the centre is both financially sustainable and beneficial to the community.

Long-Term Vision

The equine sports centre represents a long-term investment in the prosperity of our region. By creating a facility that attracts international attention, we will not only enhance the local economy but also elevate Wagga Wagga’s status on the global stage. This project underscores our commitment to the future of equestrian sports and the broader economic and cultural health of our community.

Conclusion

Building a state-of-the-art equine sports centre in Wagga Wagga is a visionary initiative that leverages our strategic location and existing resources. This facility will support our local economy, promote our equestrian heritage, and position our city as a leading destination for equine sports. I am dedicated to making this vision a reality and ensuring that Wagga Wagga becomes a major player in the equestrian sports industry.
