Larger and Improved Off-Leash Dog Parks

Hello, Wagga Wagga residents. As a community that values its pets, we recognise the importance of providing safe and spacious areas for our dogs to play and socialise. Unfortunately, our current off-leash dog parks are no longer adequate to meet the needs of our growing population.

The existing parks are too small, often leading to overcrowding, which can make it difficult for dogs to play freely and safely. This congestion can also increase the risk of conflicts and stress among dogs, making the experience less enjoyable for both pets and their owners. Additionally, these limited spaces do not provide the necessary room for dogs to exercise adequately, which is essential for their physical and mental well-being.

As part of my campaign, I propose the development of three new off-leash dog parks in key locations spread across the city. These parks will need to be designed with ample space and equipped with separate areas for small and large dogs, addressing the shortcomings of our current facilities. By creating designated areas for different sizes of dogs, we can ensure a safer and more enjoyable experience for all. Smaller dogs will have their own space without the worry of being overwhelmed, while larger dogs will have the room they need to run and play.

Larger, well-planned dog parks are crucial for the physical and mental health of our pets. They need room to exercise, socialise, and engage in natural behaviours. Separate areas for different sizes of dogs also reduce the risk of injuries and stress. These new parks will feature amenities such as water stations, shaded seating areas, and agility equipment to ensure both dogs and their owners have a great experience. Additionally, we will establish BBQ areas with covered seating, providing a perfect spot for families and friends to gather and enjoy a day out with their pets. This initiative will make Wagga Wagga more pet-friendly and improve the quality of life for both dogs and their owners.

But this isn’t just about creating parks; it’s about building spaces where our community can come together. These parks will be places for socialising, exercising, and creating  lasting memories with our pets.

As your candidate, I am committed to addressing the inadequacies of our current dog parks and making Wagga Wagga an even better place for our furry friends. Support my initiative for larger, improved off-leash dog parks with designated areas for small and large dogs, as well as BBQ areas with covered seating. It’s a change that will benefit everyone in our community.
